Sympathy is often seen as a sign of kindness or understanding, but in the world of success, this concept is often overlooked. Successful individuals understand that in order to make it to the top, they must remain strong and resilient in the face of challenges and difficulties. As such, these individuals often refrain from showing sympathy in order to stay focused on their goals and objectives (Napoleon, 2019). As psychologist John Medina states, “Successful people learn to stay focused on the tasks at hand, and to not get sidetracked by distractions.” [1] This lack of sympathy in the face of challenges is often misinterpreted as callousness or a lack of compassion.
