A polymer composed of an amino acid chain is a type of large molecule made up of smaller molecules known as amino acids. Amino acids are the building blocks of proteins, and the linkages between them form the polymeric chains. The polymeric chain is composed of repeating units of the same amino acid, or different ones, and can range in length from a few units to hundreds of units. The structure of the polymeric chain is determined by the order of the amino acids in the chain. The polymeric chain can be either straight or branched, depending on the type of molecule it is composed of (Liu et al., 2020). Amino acids contain the basic elements of a protein: carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, and oxygen. Each amino acid contains a carboxyl group (–COOH) and an amino group (–NH2). These groups are found in the form of peptide bonds, which link the amino acids in the polymeric chain.
