There are two questions on this assignment. There is a choice of topics in each question but you must answer both 1) and 2).
The maximum word count for each question is 750 words for a total maximum of 1500. Do not exceed this maximum. Your final submission should be around 1000 – 1500 words.
Include your name in the top left corner of the first page but, as usual, do not include a cover page.
Your answers should be based EXCLUSIVELY on the materials covered in this course—lectures, readings, videos and participation assignments—and on your own personal knowledge. You can Google for clarification if you need to, and you can also consult with other students, BUT the final submission must be your own individual work primarily based on the course.
When referring to material covered in the course give some kind of citation. You are partly trying to demonstrate that you have read, viewed and engaged with course materials in a meaningful way. E.g:
When asked about the future of the United Church, Rev. Miculan noted that “The UCC….” (Interview with Alison Miculan posted to Avenue Nov. 15, 2021).
All assignments should be submitted before 11:59 PM on 20 December.
Students with SAS accommodations in place should note that the final submission date is non-negotiable. If you require an extension beyond 20 December, please contact SAS or your Faculty Office.
With the above requirements in mind, answer BOTH of the following questions (1 & 2) and submit to Avenue in .pdf or .doc(x).
1) Either separately or in one essay discuss the differences in Western Christianity (Roman Catholicism, Mainstream Protestantism, Evangelical Christianity) regarding any TWO of the following:
2) Explain the significance of ONE of the following historical events for Christian adherents today:
a. Council of Nicaea (325)
b. 95 Theses (1517)
c. Vatican II (1962 – 1965)
(Good luck on your exams. Enjoy the holiday break. Hope to see some of you in person around campus in 2022!)
