Evaluation of Interprofessional Team Performance

According to a recent study published in the Journal of Health Policy and Management (Smith, 2019), current organizational performance within the healthcare industry is generally meeting government benchmarks set forth at the local, state, and federal levels. However, there are some areas where improvement is needed in order to ensure compliance with these standards. One area of concern is interprofessional team performance. A review of the literature (Jones, 2020) suggests that there is room for improvement in terms of communication and collaboration among team members. This is especially important in the current regulatory environment, as the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) have placed a strong emphasis on interprofessional teamwork as a means of improving patient outcomes (CMS, 2021).
