Dear Supervisor, I wanted to bring to your attention some cultural differences that I have observed between our unit/department and another unit/department within the organization. According to research, culture is defined as “the set of shared beliefs, values, customs, behaviors, and artifacts that characterize a group or organization” (Schein, 2019). Based on my observations, the culture in our unit is characterized by a strong focus on teamwork and collaboration, while the culture in the other unit seems to prioritize individual achievement and competition. This difference in cultural values has led to friction between the two units, as members of each unit may not understand or appreciate the values and norms of the other. For example, members of our unit may feel that the focus on individual achievement in the other unit is detrimental to the overall success of the organization, while members of the other unit may see our emphasis on teamwork as inefficient or unambitious.
