A. The patient featured in my chosen video case study is a 25-year-old female who has been experiencing depression and anxiety since she was 17 years old, which began after her father passed away suddenly while she was at college. She reports feeling low energy, sleep disturbance with nightmares, problems concentrating, feelings of guilt/worthlessness, suicidal thoughts, poor appetite with unintentional weight loss, difficulty managing stressors , irritability , negative thinking patterns & social withdrawal . Additionally patient also suffered from panic attacks throughout past several months causing chest tightness trembling physical discomfort.

B. Three primary DSM-5 mood disorder diagnoses from my evaluation of this video case study & associated data include Major Depressive Disorder (MDD), Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD),& Panic Disorder Without Agoraphobia . These diagnoses can be supported by criteria found within DSM such as persistent depressed or elevated mood reported by patient during interviews as well persistent sadness lack interest activities also commonly observed amongst individuals suffering MDD ; Additionally it should noted that patient complained feeling overwhelmed dealing day day tasks difficulty controlling worry thus fulfilling criteria GAD ; Lastly considering presence physical sensations experienced during panic attack along associated psychological distress like fear worthlessness confirms presence PD without agoraphobia .

C. In order further assess this client’s possible mood disorders I would administer Beck Depression Inventory II & Zung Self Rating Anxiety Scale . BDI-II helps clinicians measure severity depressive episodes using 21 questions based levels current functioning score ranges 0 – 63 where higher scores indicate more pronounced depressive symptoms ; meanwhile SSA scale provides information about types/levels anxiety experienced patients by exploring four areas cognitive affective physiological somatic through total 20 items scoring range 20 -80 wherein higher numbers signify increased intensity anxious behavior.

Overall these assessments provide valuable insight into overall mental health status clients which helps practitioners create tailored treatment plans individual needs ultimately leading improved outcomes long term helping them lead productive meaningful lives free debilitating effects various afflictions encountered daily basis
