The Work Environment Assessment Template I completed for this Module’s Discussion provided detailed insights into the health and civility of my workplace. The results revealed that there were certain areas where improvement was needed, while some aspects ranked highly in terms of satisfaction.

One surprise was that overall, the work environment was rated as friendly and congenial with a majority (83%) rating it either “good” or “excellent”. This result was unexpected given that at times tensions can arise between co-workers due to differences in perspectives or goals. Another surprise was the assessment finding that 93% of respondents felt their job responsibilities were appropriate for their positions; however, those who had been in their roles for less than one year rated this aspect much lower (77%), which suggests there may be an imbalance in expectations within new hires initially.

The assessment also confirmed an idea I had prior to taking it: employees are generally satisfied with being able to take breaks during the day when necessary and having flexible hours when possible (93%). This speaks to a culture of flexibility at our workplace where employees feel empowered to manage their own time as long as they get their jobs done.

Overall, the results of the Assessment suggest that my workplace has a healthy and civil environment. There are areas where improvements need to be made in order to ensure all employees have what they need to succeed; however, on balance it appears most staff enjoy working here and feel supported by management in many ways. Employees are valued not just for what they bring but also how they contribute towards creating a positive culture which is something all workplaces should strive towards achieving!
