Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) is a common urologic disorder that affects the urinary system. It occurs when bacteria enters and infects any part of the urinary tract, such as the bladder, kidneys, or urethra. UTIs are most commonly caused by poor hygiene, infrequent urination, or sexual activity.

The incidence of UTI varies among different age groups; according to recent studies it is more common in young women than in men. Symptoms often include painful urination, frequent urges to urinate but little urine being passed, cloudy/foul-smelling urine, pain in lower abdomen/pelvic area and general malaise.

Treatment for UTI involves antibiotics prescribed by your doctor depending on the severity of infection and which bacteria are causing it. In order to prevent future infections, there are several steps you can take: maintain good hygiene habits; drink plenty of water throughout day; empty bladder completely after each time go bathroom avoid holding urine too long periods time; practice safe sex using condoms reduce chances transmitting bacteria partner(s).
