The ability to cope with fear is an important skill that can be taught to children in order for them to become more resilient. Having a healthy level of caution, however, can also be beneficial. Teaching children how to handle fear and develop caution while still being respectful of their parents’ beliefs can be done through various methods.

One way teachers can foster resilience and help teach children how to navigate fears is by providing guidance on making good decisions. This starts with helping the child understand why it would not be wise for them to trust all dogs since some may indeed present a danger. By offering information about how certain types of behavior indicate that an animal could pose a risk, such as if they are growling or lunging at them, the teacher can provide the student with knowledge that will make it easier for them to determine when they should stay away from an animal while still appreciating animals overall.
