The Rise of Experiential Travel and Niche Tourism

In recent years, experiential travel and niche tourism have become increasingly popular due to the desire of travellers to go beyond traditional sightseeing and explore new places, cultures, and activities. According to a survey conducted by Booking.com, 80% of travellers worldwide now prefer experiential trips over traditional vacations (Lubin, 2019). Additionally, niche tourism, which focuses on specific activities, locations, or cultures, is on the rise as travellers seek out unique and memorable experiences. One of the reasons for the growth of experiential and niche tourism is the rise of social media, which has allowed travellers to share their adventures and experiences with friends and family.
