Constitutional and administrative law both refer to areas of law that enforce the rules, regulations, and laws of a particular jurisdiction or nation. Both function hand-in-hand to ensure that individuals are given certain rights, duties, and privileges as set forth by their government. While they may seem similar on the surface, constitutional and administrative law differ in many respects. Understanding how the two legal principles intersect is key to understanding their importance in our society today.

At its core, constitutional law is a set of fundamental principles that govern the powers held by governmental bodies—including national governments (federalism) as well as state governments (state constitutions). It defines individual rights under the rule of law with respect to government actions, including what powers different branches have over citizens within a state or country. Constitutional Law also sets limits on government power so it does not go too far when making laws impacting citizens’ lives. To ensure these basic freedoms remain intact for all persons within a jurisdiction or nation, judicial review must be available for interpretation when disputes arise between individuals or entities which fall under any branch of government’s authority. This means if someone feels their individual rights have been violated due to unconstitutional action from any member of government or entity associated with it—they can seek out legal recourse through filing suit against those involved parties in court.
