Mainstream media can be many forms such as movies, television, magazines and newspapers. These mediums have been used to cover current events for generations. They are often used to inform the public about news that is happening in the world around them or topics of interest or controversy. One example of mainstream media covering a current event is the 2018 film “A Quiet Place” which tells the story of a family living in post-apocalyptic America where sound attracts monsters. This movie could be seen as a metaphor for how society has become inundated with information and noise from all sides–social media, news outlets, etc.–and it can be overwhelming if we don’t take time out to process it in our own way.
