To accomplish this, one must have knowledge of cultural diversity as well as flexibility in the way they communicate.

Culturally competent communication involves being aware of different cultures’ values and customs, recognizing the potential impact of these beliefs on behavior and communication styles, valuing all cultures equally while avoiding stereotyped thinking or judgmental attitudes, and adapting one’s style of communication accordingly. It also requires an open mind towards learning about other cultures in order to understand their worldviews better. One should be open to new experiences that might challenge long-held beliefs or practices instead of rejecting them outright due to fear or unfamiliarity.
