It is not possible to define a simple analytical scheme that can be applied to all types of evidence due to the complexity and variety of evidence presented. Evidence-based practice relies on research, literature, anecdotal reports and other forms of data that provide an understanding of how interventions might impact outcomes (Ragins & Rice, 2007). Each type of evidence has its own merits and limitations which means any proposed analytical scheme must recognize these nuances. In this way it is impossible to develop a simple analytical scheme suitable for all types of evidence. Three primary reasons why it is not feasible to create such a universal approach include: (1) variation in study design; (2) potential inaccuracies created by generalizations; and (3) lack of standardization across contexts.
