In America, college tuition has been steadily increasing for over a decade. According to The College Board, in the 2019-2020 academic year, the average cost of one year of undergraduate tuition and fees at a public four-year university was $10,440 (The College Board). This is an increase from 2000 when it only cost approximately $5,836 per year (The College Board). There are many reasons why college has become so expensive in America; some of these include rising administrative costs, insufficient government aid and subsidies to colleges and universities, and higher faculty salaries.
