The COVID-19 pandemic has created both financial and economic challenges for Gold Gym globally, as well as local communities across the U.S. and Canada. The health crisis has caused strict safety protocols to be implemented in order to protect public health, which have had a direct impact on many gyms’ business operations and bottom lines. As gyms face increasing uncertainty, their ability to stay afloat is greatly diminished due to government mandated closures and lack of available capital or financial aid from various sources (Chang et al., 2020).
