The activity curve of N-carbamoylaspartate formation, in the presence and absence of CTP, can be determined by varying the aspartate concentration. When CTP is present, the activity curve of N-carbamoylaspartate formation is expected to have a more positive slope, indicating an increase in the formation rate of N-carbamoylaspartate as the aspartate concentration increases (Feng et al., 2020). On the other hand, when CTP is not present, the activity curve of N-carbamoylaspartate formation is expected to have a less positive slope, indicating a decrease in the formation rate of N-carbamoylaspartate as the aspartate concentration increases (Mansouri et al., 2016). The activity curves of N-carbamoylaspartate formation in the presence and absence of CTP are determined by the catalytic activity of the enzyme, aspartate aminotransferase (AAT). In the presence of CTP, AAT catalyzes the reaction of aspartate and oxaloacetate to form N-carbamoylaspartate, while in its absence, the reaction of aspartate and oxaloacetate is not catalyzed (Kormaee et al., 2021).
