The learning resources provided information on professional development and role change that I found to be extremely helpful in my research. Through this research, I have identified several types of positions that interest me including nurse practitioner, certified registered nurse anesthetist, clinical nurse specialist and health policy analyst. These roles are significantly different from the positions I have held in the past due to the increased level of responsibility that comes with advanced practice nursing as well as the focus on using evidence-based practices and decision-making skills. Other differences include a greater emphasis on patient education, advocacy for healthcare reform initiatives, and developing relationships with other healthcare professionals.
