One of the informatics competencies relevant to Advanced Practice Nurses that I learned in this course is the ability to use technology systems and applications in the provision of care. This includes being knowledgeable about a variety of digital platforms such as Electronic Health Records (EHRs), which are used for collecting, organizing, and analyzing patient data; accessing existing information such as test results, medical histories, and previous treatments; documenting interactions with patients including assessments, diagnoses, interventions, and treatment plans; monitoring patient progress over time; coordinating care across multiple providers etc.

Additionally, APNs must also be familiar with other technologies such as telehealth for providing remote access to healthcare services while improving efficiency through better communication among all stakeholders involved in the care process. Consequently understanding how best to leverage these tools is essential for any advanced practice nurse wishing to ensure safe, high quality and cost-effective outcomes.
