When evaluating reliability, validity and factual accuracy, information found through mass media channels must be evaluated using a few steps (Nieminen, 2019). This could be an indicator that the source isn’t well-known and/or lacks credibility. Check for citations. Does the source provide any citations that support its claims. This could indicate that there is no evidence or research supporting the claims. Think about the context. Was the information given in the right context? Or was it removed from context to support a specific point? It is possible for information to be misinterpreted or incorrectly presented outside of its context. Be aware of bias. Does the information presented biasedly? You should consider any conflicts of interests and potential biases in the source. Check the accuracy of information.
