What is Glucogenic Amino acids?

Some essential amino acid are known as glucosogenic amino acids. They can convert into glucose. As it allows the non-carbohydrate source of glucose to be produced, the conversion of Glucogenic amino acids is essential for blood glucose maintenance. The Krebs cycle is also dependent on Glucogenic Amino Acids for energy production. The eight essential glucogenic amino acids are alanine, arginine, cysteine, glutamine, glycine, proline, serine, and tyrosine (Alvarez-Leite & Koo, 2020; Miyazaki et al., 2019). The glucogenic amino acid are involved in many metabolic processes including energy production, protein synthesis and fatty acid synthesis. Miyazaki, et. al. 2019, alanine being one example of a glucogenic acid which plays a part in the synthesis both of glucose and fatty oils. Arginine is another glucogenic amino acid that is involved in the production of hormones such as insulin and growth hormone (Alvarez-Leite & Koo, 2020).
